Luiz O. F. Penalva, PhD, joined the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute in July of 2004 with major faculty responsibilities as a Principal Investigator in Molecular Oncogenesis, Founding Member of the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research. Dr. Penalva attended the University of São Paulo, Brazil and received his Ph.D. from the University of Madrid (UAM), Spain. His post-doctoral work was completed at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany and Duke University in Durham, N.C.
Dr. Penalva has been honored with fellowships by CNPq and FAPESP (Brazil), the Ministry of Science and Education (Spain), the European Molecular Biology Organization and the Raychem/Rogers/Morrish Fellowship at Duke University.
