SAN ANTONIO – All cyclists of all levels are invited to participate in “Gear Up Against Kids Cancer” an event hosted by the UT Health San Antonio’s Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute. All proceeds of this event will go to benefit cancer treatments.

The bike ride will take place at the Floresville Event Center at 600 SH 97 West at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 2. Riders will begin and end the race there and will have the option to take the 28-mile or 38-mile route while riding through the scenic roads of Wilson County, Texas.

All proceeds will go to research into treatments for children with cancer, especially cases that are riskier but have a high potential for a high impact.

The spokesperson of this event and pediatric cancer survivor, Dr. Gregory Aune, said that his experiences pursued him to a career in pediatric oncology. His goal is to develop less toxic chemotherapy regimens.

“As a pediatric cancer survivor, my life mission is dedicated to helping young cancer patients who are battling the most challenging fight of their lives. We encourage cyclists to help gear up against cancer and help us raise awareness for our childhood cancer research efforts being conducted right here in San Antonio and South Texas,” said Gregory Aune, M.D., Ph.D., pediatric oncologist, and physician-scientist at UT Health San Antonio’s Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute.

If you are interested in riding for a good cause, you can register for this event at GearUpAgainstKidsCancer.org.
