PPG Member Profile: Panagiotis A. Konstantinopoulos, MD, PhD

Panagiotis KonstantinopoulosDuring my career as an academic medical oncologist, I have developed translational research expertise on gynecologic cancers with an important niche in the areas of DNA Repair/Genomic Instability, Immunotherapy, and preclinical development of novel therapies. My research has focused on unraveling mechanisms of resistance to chemotherapy and targeted agents, developing the rationale and preclinical data for novel drug combinations in gynecologic cancers, and identification of novel diagnostic and predictive biomarkers of response to immunotherapy and targeted agents in gynecologic cancers as well as investigating their mechanistic implication in carcinogenesis. My research findings have contributed to the understanding of mechanisms of resistance and to the development of novel therapeutic strategies in gynecologic cancers. They have been incorporated as correlative endpoints in ongoing clinical trials and/or have directly led to the development of clinical trials in gynecologic malignancies. I currently serve as Vice Chair and Translational Chair of the NRG Developmental Therapeutics Committee and as a Member of the Ovarian Cancer Task Force of the NCI Gynecologic Cancer Steering Committee. I am also the Director of the Center for BRCA and Related Genes at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
