Genomic Sequencing Facility (GSF) Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions

Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute (GCCRI)’s Genome Sequencing Facility (GSF) operations are supported by extra-mural grants (NIH, CPRIT & foundations) and institutional resources enabling substantial subsidization of charge-back rates. Continued grant and institutional funding is essential and highly dependent on documentation of facility support of publications by its users.

Acknowledgment of Genome Sequencing Facility

Research Facilities are under increasing pressure to demonstrate their value in the academic enterprise. A visible measure of the impact of core facilities is the number of Facility-contributed publications. Thus, proper acknowledgment of these contributions in publications and in grant proposals is essential for their continued support.

The facility should be listed in the “Acknowledgements” section of any publication using data generated in the Genome Sequencing Facility as follows:

Data was generated in the Genome Sequencing Facility, which is supported by UT Health San Antonio, NIH-NCI P30 CA054174 (Cancer Center at UT Health San Antonio), NIH Shared Instrument grant 1S10 OD030311-01 (S10 grant), and CPRIT Core Facility Award (RP220662).

Co-Authorship

Facility Director(s) and personnel are scientists. The GSF promotes active collaboration on concrete and sustainable research activities that are of mutual benefit to GSF’s long-term success and our NGS users. In addition to acknowledgments required of all publications, when the facility provides significant intellectual input for a project, the Principal Investigator who used the facility is expected to seek input from the Core Director(s) on the preparation of manuscripts and to negotiate, at that time, co-authorship for key contributing core personnel. Please utilize the Recommended Guidelines for Authorship on Manuscripts outlined by the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF). Ultimately, the decision of co-authorship or acknowledgment is up to the senior author (or PI) on the publication.
