🎉Congratulations to Chris Do (Rao Lab) for being named the UT Health San Antonio Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Sr. Student of the Year!

Chris Do GSBS Senior Student of the Year

The GSBS Senior Student of the Year Award recognizes a graduate student who demonstrates the best potential for research success as measured by publications, presentations, and awards. The student must demonstrate sustained excellence in academics.

Chris Do is an MD/PhD student in the South Texas Medical Scientist Training Program (STX-MSTP). Chris is a doctoral candidate in the Cancer Biology discipline of the Integrated Biomedical Sciences program in the laboratory of Dr. Manjeet Rao. For his research, Chris is studying the role of Discoidin Domain Receptors (DDRs) in modulating pancreatic cancer progression. He is also interested in anti-tumor immunity and drug treatment.

Chris’s hard work has earned him a number of honors and awards, including four travel awards, two prestigious poster awards, and two first-author publications. His paper titled “The Road Ahead in Pancreatic Cancer: Emerging Trends and Therapeutic Prospects” was published in Biomedicines (2024), and earlier this year, his manuscript, “Targeting DDR2 for Treating Pancreatic Cancer,” was accepted in Molecular Cancer Therapeutics.

Celebrate Chris as the Senior Student of the Year at Convocation!
