We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Yogesh Gupta, Ph.D., and Dr. Robert Svatek, M.D., M.S.C.I., are the recipients of this year’s Graduate Mentor of the Year Award. This honor recognizes exceptional faculty who go above and beyond in supporting the academic, professional, and personal development of their graduate students.

Dr. Yogesh Gupta, Ph.D. (pictured left) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Structural Biology. Dr. Gupta was nominated by Abhay Kumar, a Ph.D. Student in Biomedical Engineering.

Dr. Robert Svatek, M.D., M.S.C.I. (pictured right) is a Professor in the Department of Urology. He was nominated by Dr. Shaun Trecarten, who completed his Master of Science in Clinical Investigation and Translational Science in May.

The Research Mentoring Academy selected these outstanding mentors from a pool of 45 heartfelt GSBS graduate student nominations, representing 34 different faculty across our UT Health San Antonio community. These thoughtful submissions highlighted the remarkable ways mentors are shaping training experience through unwavering support, inspiring guidance, and a commitment to graduate student success.

The awardees will be honored in person at the GSBS Convocation on Wednesday, August 20, at 10:00 a.m. in Holly Auditorium.
